What is a State PAC?
Creating change at the state and local level
A state political action committee or PAC is an organized group, registered through the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance (OCPF), with the main purpose of supporting or opposing candidates, elected officials, a particular party, and/or a particular cause at the local and state level. All campaign contributions and expenditures associated with the MA ATPAC are public information, compliant with state campaign finance laws, and can be found through the OCPF website.
State PACs assist in targeting issues and amplifying the voice of those that contribute by pooling funds and making contributions to candidates and officials who share the ideals of the committee. In Massachusetts, limits are set for annual contributions to the PAC as well as contributions to candidates and elected officials.
